Master thesis from Industrial Design School at Lund University.
In 2008, there were not much focus on climate change and sustainable development, especially not on how our consumption affects us and the planet. I wanted to investigate in how design can contribute to sustainable consumption, and to my surprise, I discovered that many saw it as extremely radical and threatening to question consumption.
With this master thesis, I wanted to create a vision of a sustainable lifestyle and another way to relate to consumption with more room for immaterial and emotional values. It is a reflection over the role of industrial design in relation to consumption and gives a sustainable basis for the design process.
My aim was also to find a personal way to relate to these matters and create a foundation for my future work as an industrial designer.
